Because the First Cold War was So Much Fun

Hussein and "Defense" Secretary Robert Gates have decided to scrap plans for a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe that Bush had put in motion. Their rationale was that Iran is a bigger current threat, and there is more danger from short and medium range missiles as opposed to the long-range types the shield was developed to counter.

Sounds to me like a cop-out on several levels. First of all, everything possible should be done to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear capability, even if we have to send in a couple of Hellfires to make a few key buildings go all splodey. Instead, it sounds like Hussein has resigned himself to the fact that Iran is going to get them eventually, completely ignoring the fact that the Israelis might have objections to that and decide to act accordingly, which they are already talking about. Secondly, unless the Russkies have had a garage sale lately, I'm pretty sure they're in control of a fair amount of those old nukes the Soviet Onion had laying around. And the Putin gang aren't exactly what you would call buddies of ours, so it might be better to be safe than sorry in that aspect. Additionally, for the folks that are our friends, like the Poles and the Czechs, not to mention the Lithuanians, Georgians, and Ukrainians, nixing the missile shield is a sign of bad faith, and could leave them open to future depridations at the hands of the Russians. Again.

And would someone explain to me why this system couldn't be adapted to handle missiles of every range capability? Seems to me if you can hit something far away, you should be able to hit things up close as well. I realize the physics might pose a problem initially, but how hard could that be to overcome?

And what about the fact that Iran launched a satellite in February? Isn't that an indication that long-range missiles might be a part of their future as well, if the West is foolish enough to allow them to progress that far? Seems to me it is. So now we're back to a need for a long-range missile shield, kinda like the one Bammy just scrapped.

Ever get the feeling that Hussein has no fucking idea what he's doing? Yes, I thought so...

10 Paces Award for 9/16/09

I'm handing out today's 10 Paces award to a guy most people don't know, but who I'm proud to call friend: Ranger Steve.

He contributes material here at the Sidearm occasionally, gives me leads to stories, and basically keeps things real the way a good, moral conservative should. He calls 'em like he sees 'em (which is the way I see them, too), isn't afraid to speak his mind, and is fed up with all the PC, bleeding-heart liberal, pro-anything-but-white-Christian-male bullshit that is festering in our country.

Plus, when we're together, I get to be the quiet, under-control guy, which is a nice change for me. But don't let that fool you: he's a smart and savvy fellow. I certainly wouldn't want to be 10 paces from him and the business end of a gun...of course, considering the fact he's a trained sniper and all, I wouldn't want to be 1000 paces down-range, either.

Ranger Steve...today's 10 Paces Awardee. Well done, my friend!

Bleahhh...

I'd really like to catch up on the pontificating, folks, but today ain't the day. My head feels like a newly-stuffed Build-A-Bear thanks to my ill-mannered and inconsiderate sinuses.

So for today, let's just dwell on what a complete and total prick Kanye West is. Simple and not at all challenging.

Onward Christian Soldiers...

There is going to come a time, very soon, when that hymn will have to cease being a song and become a war cry. As with most people who live to see such times, I wish it wasn't going to happen in my lifetime, if for no other reason than my children's future, but it will. Creeping sharia is a curse upon the world, and is spreading like a rat-born plague, which is a perfectly apt analogy.

On September 8th, the California Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals voted to uphold a public school superintendent's decision to ban a one-time instrumental performance of "Ave Maria" at a high school graduation ceremony. This same court, several years ago, voted to allow daily islamic prayer in public schools. Anyone want to explain the difference to me? I'd like the explanation to make sense, please.

This is one of the reasons why liberals flat-out irritate the hell out of me. Don't allow anything Christian, because the state can't endorse a religion, but when it comes to death cults...well, that's okay.

One word comes to mind, and that word is "Motherfucker!"

Liberals Take Notice: We Mean Business!

9/12: 1.5 to 2 MILLION people descend on the nation's capitol, letting Hussein know that we are on to his lies. Of course, the cowardly bastard ducked out of town, and only Fox covered the event, but the message was sent. Bammy got a dead fish in the mail, wrapped in his Obamacare plan.

Starting to see the picture, liberals? We WILL stop you, one way or the other. Whatever it takes to live free.
