Who Is This Ayn Rand Chick, Anyway?

Headline this morning: Hussein fires the CEO of GM.

This is disturbing on so many levels. Where to start?

Well, I've got no sympathy for the American auto industry. Complacency and greed, unions and planned obsolescence are what really ruined it. I think they should have been left to founder. Some enterprising soul would have picked it up at a bargain and likely would have made it profitable again, though it would have taken a few years. So the hell with them. Make cheaper, better quality cars that last and you'd still be in business.

But to have the government step in, and have the prez shitcan an executive? Not good. And this is what Rand talks about in Atlas Shrugged. A totalitarian-type government makes it hard or impossible for a company or industry to do business, regulates the hell out of them, basically sets them up to fail, then steps in and takes control for "the greater good". (Anyone else see Hot Fuzz? Great movie.) This is a go-to formation in the commie playbook.

Now, like I said above, I've no love lost for the auto industry, but this is wrong, not to mention anti-capitalist. Anti-capitalism is bad for freedom, and anything bad for freedom makes me angry. The kind of angry that makes you want to mount up, tighten your reins, grab your heaviest spear, and lead a band of berserk horsemen to pillage the town, burning and looting and cooking your evening meal over the ashes. Kind of what I'd like to do to Demo-Rat party headquarters.

Time to call for the jail-break blitz on these twerps. We could use a good sack right about now. Of course you know that if we do, Hussein will be looking for a flag while he's picking grass out of his teeth.
