Had to lay down at least one positive vibe on my first day.
Who's ready for baseball? And I'm not talking about the big leagues; I mean the little leagues. Every year around February I dread the upcoming baseball/softball seasons, because at that point it's all hassle: getting forms filled out, hoping whatever band of monkeys controls the league has their act together, wondering who's coming back, getting practices scheduled and planned, new gloves, new spikes, new batting gloves...sometimes the list seems 5 times as long as it should be.
But then, you draft your team, you meet your players, get a few clinics under your belt, and the dread turns into another season of hope. It's a good feeling, even when the monkeys are trying to smoke the bananas instead of eating them.
I'll be honest, going into my 6th season of coaching softball, and 3rd of baseball, I think I'd rather watch a hard-played, mistake-filled, up-and-down little league game than the bigs any day.
But that's just me, and plenty of people will tell you I'm crazy. Ah, well. Get in line.
hi
ReplyDeleteok got it! now here we go again, I agree that watching the kids finaly get on the field was fun to watch to see how much they remember and how rusty they still are from the winter off! But there is just something to be on the field and watch the excitement on their faces when they make a great play! I can't say I coach but I help out when I can, Its hard when all 3 of my kids are in Baseball and Softball at the same time! But I do helpout when I can, Its the least I can do!
